The BILT Bridging Event: Towards inclusive excellence in TVET provides a platform for international policy learning, knowledge exchange, innovation transfer and networking among Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET )policy makers, practitioners and researchers. The BILT Bridging Event aims to contribute to the implementation of the Education 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 4, “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”. The UNESCO Strategy for TVET 2022-2029 is fully aligned with SDG 4 and underlines UNESCO’s goal to unlock the potential of youth and adults by transforming TVET for successful and just transitions.
During the session on ‘Networks for Excellence in TVET’ the panellists were discussed the options for promoting inclusive excellence through the respective networks and identify relevant areas for future collaboration. Therefore, speakers highlighted how global and regional networks are critical to inclusive and excellent Technical Vocational Education Training. Key takeaway: “Together, we need to speak in one voice and coordinate our activities to drive transformation in TVET systems and bring TVET to the global education agenda.”
Participants had a chance to visit the Holcim (Italia) SpA cement production unit in Merone to get a first-hand look at the ‘Made in Italy’ approach to vocational education and training.
The event also provided a platform for the first BILT Expert Group meeting on building and construction and a UNEVOC Network meeting.
Going forward, we invite all Bridging Event participants to build on the shared insights, learning and spirit of collaboration to advance inclusive excellence in TVET.
