BIRGIT – Filling Skills Gaps in BIM-GIS Integration project aims to design and develop a training course that integrates Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Geographic Information System (GIS), replying to a long lasting need from Engineering and Architecture areas for professionals with skills that combine both technologies!
Being on its last year of duration, this project (which will end in January 2025) is currently on the phase of developing the contents for BIRGIT training course, aimed at VET students and professionals searching for reskilling and upskilling opportunities.
As such, the third Transnational Partners’ Meeting (TPM) that took place this week (January 23rd and 24th) in Pamplona, ES, aimed at gathering all partners involved in this process to make an overview of the training course and of the contents developed so far, and what more needs to be done to finalise them. After fruitful discussions (and a warm hosting from AIN), it became clear what each partner needs to do based on its own expertise on both technologies and on innovative pedagogical methodologies that rely on the use of the most suitable software for a quality learning experience.
BIRGIT training course is comprised of modules that include the themes “Introduction to BIM and GIS” and 3D GIS, City Models and Digital Twins.
The next steps will be to finalise the training materials (theoretical and practical), and to prepare for the piloting of BIRGIT training course, involving students from the partner organisations that provide training: AIN (ES), Forma.Azione and GISIG (IT), Uni North (HR) and Ocellus (SE) – coordinator of the project.
The next TPM will be taking place in Varazdin, Croatia (hosted by Uni North), in June.
