EcoHoney – Boost Sustainable Beekeeping and Organic Honey Production in the EU

Enhance Your Skills and Market Presence with Project EcoHoney

EcoHoney is an Erasmus+ project that aims to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of beekeeping and organic honey production in the European Union. The main aim of the project is to support beekeepers by providing comprehensive training in the field of organic honey production and marketing, while also to raise the awareness concerning ecological and cultural importance of bees.

Furthermore, the project targets EU beekeepers with the goal of giving them enough material to train them on how to improve their skills and knowledge in producing and promoting organic honey. The aforementioned multidisciplinary approach includes best practices in various specific fields such as organic beekeeping, pest management, as well as marketing strategies. By doing that, EcoHoney aims to encourage sustainable practices and enhance the market presence and influence of organic honey producers.

Moreover, by showcasing the role of bees in the context of biodiversity’s maintenance, the project aims to inspire both new and experienced beekeepers to adopt and implement organic and sustainable methods. This approach will further support the preservation of both knowledge and local traditions.

The main project results are:

  1. EcoHoney Learning Model
  2. EcoHoney Training Course with 3 separate books with theoretical & interactive resources: Handbook of organic production and farming, Handbook of marketing of organic honey & honey products, The Big Bee Book
  3. EcoHoney Guidebook on Certification or organic honey & honey products
  4. EcoHoney Manual for trainers
  5. EcoHoney b-learning platform with all project’s results
  6. EcoHoney Interactive E-library with various interactive & passive materials on project’s topics.

Last month, the research phase was held, with 62 participants across EU showcasing the existing need for practical, well-structured training to support skills and marketing strategies in the organic honey production sector. Furthermore, the research showcased a strong interest among participants to engage in training programs concerning the honey production sector. Currently, the foundations of the project’s Learning Model are being developed, thus, setting the foundations for the Training Kit’s development. EcoHoney project consortium consists of 6 partners organisations from 6 EU countries, including Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, Malta, France and Cyprus, with Eurosuccess Consulting being the Cypriot representative.
