Erasmus+ opportunities in vocational education
Electric and hybrid vehicles have become a very important part in vehicle history as well as an essential part of everyday life. This has also changed the content of vocational education, where programmes on electric and hybrid vehicles are playing an important role and are becoming very popular choices among students. Vocational schools are being modernized not only in the aspect of equipment provided for training, but also the curriculum which has been updated and topics on hybrid and electric vehicles are included.
The need to expand knowledge in the field of electric and hybrid vehicles has proposed the idea of Erasmus+ project no. 2019-1-ES01-KA202-064075 “Inclusion and employability through electric vehicle technologies” where Kaunas technical vocational education centre is a partner. The project focuses on sustainable investment, quality and efficiency of education, training and youth systems, open education and innovative practices in a digital era, social inclusion and new technologies and digital competences. Seven vocational education institutions from Croatia, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Spain, and Turkey are partners in the project with local automotive companies sharing their experiences as well.
The aims of the project are to prepare 14 digital teaching units on electric and hybrid vehicles and to create a module in the SPOC system. The following are the topics prepared by the project partners: 1. Electricity in electric vehicles 2. Types of electric vehicles 3. Security and regulations 4. Batteries 5. Electric vehicle generators 6. Engines 7. Power inverters 8. Motor controllers 9. Diagnostics 10. Traction maintenance 11. Refrigeration and air conditioning 12. Battery management system 13. Gear boxes and P-Lock 14. Electric motor reducers;
The partners have prepared 14 modules which are provided in their native languages and English, thus making them easily accessible to the international community. They can also be easily modified and supplemented if necessary. It is believed that modern digital modules containing useful information for teachers as well as students will be of major assistance in the educational process in the field of transportation. The outcomes of the project will also serve as an example of innovation and good experience in the field of strategic partnerships under the Erasmus+ programme. The project ends on August 31st, 2022.
