Nurturing Ethical Entrepreneurs: Empowering Youth through the Value & Future Trainers’ Guide

Value & Future is an innovative, three-year project (2021-2023) funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, which encourages VET students to envision their own entrepreneurial future and familiarize themselves with the ethical challenges facing entrepreneurs in today’s world. The project is being implemented by 6 partners from Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, Spain and Lithuania.

At the heart of Value & Future is the belief that young people have the potential to become ethical entrepreneurs who can make a positive impact on society. By connecting them with role models and equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills, we aim to foster an entrepreneurial mindset that embraces fairness, sustainability, and ethical values. A Trainers’ Guide has been prepared by the partners of the Value & Future project to provide educators with a comprehensive resource that supports the implementation of an educational method combining entrepreneurial, sustainable, and value-driven learning. The Trainers’ Guide is structured into several chapters that cover various aspects of ethical entrepreneurial teaching. The first chapter focuses on the theoretical foundations of ethical entrepreneurship, exploring modules on ethics, corporate (business) ethics, code of conduct, ethical leadership, and ethical entrepreneurship. These modules provide educators with the necessary knowledge and tools to foster ethical thinking and decision-making among their students. The second chapter delves into the method of case-based learning, which is a key component of the educational approach. It explains how educators can effectively use real-life cases and dilemmas to engage students in critical thinking and problem-solving, allowing them to analyze ethical issues and develop their own perspectives. Subsequent chapters introduce additional activities included in the educational method, such as the quick scan activity, ET talks, and future days. These activities aim to connect students with entrepreneurs, facilitate dialogue and exploration of moral dilemmas, and provide inspiration through storytelling and exchange. The guide also emphasizes the importance of defining learning outcomes and assessment strategies to measure students’ progress in ethical entrepreneurship. It provides examples and best practices to assist trainers in implementing the educational method effectively. Overall, the Trainers’ Guide serves as a comprehensive roadmap for educators, equipping them with the necessary knowledge, strategies, and resources to empower young people towards ethical entrepreneurship and leadership.
