The project REWIRE – Cybersecurity Skills Alliance kicked-off in a virtual format
On November 30th and December 1st , 2020, the kick-off meeting of the project REWIRE – Cybersecurity Skills Alliance – A New Vision for Europe (621701-EPP-1-2020-1-LT-EPPKA2-SSA-B) was held online gathering 12 education and training providers, 11 partners representing industry and certification, and 2 EU umbrella organisations for VET from 12 EU countries.
The partnership objective is to work together for developing a new sectoral strategic approach to cooperate on cybersecurity skills, and support a better matching between skill needs of the market and skills provided by the relevant education and training organisations.
This project aims to provide concrete recommendations and solutions that would lead to the reduction of skill gaps between industry requirements and sectoral training provision and contribute to support growth, innovation and competitiveness in the field of Cybersecurity.
REWIRE builds a Blueprint for the Cybersecurity industry and a concrete European Cybersecurity Skills Strategy. This strategy will bring together lessons learned from other initiatives (i.e. CONCORDIA, SPARTA, ECHO, CyberSec4Europe) and will be outlined from a holistic approach, identifying political, economic, social, technological, legal and other factors which may be affecting sector skills and training offer.
The meeting was introduced by providing information about the project which will last 48 months starting in November 1, 2020 till October 31, 2024 and belongs to the Erasmus+ Programme Sector Skills Alliances. Its goal was to initiate the project with high energy and provide an overview of project activities to all partners.
The meeting was indeed focused on the project activities and deliverables alongside the first year of the project (M1 to M12) with a welcoming and introductory words by MRU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs prof. dr. Regina Valutytė and a PO presentation by Urška Primec, Project Manager from the European Commission Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EACEA). The Project Manager Rimantas Žylius (MRU) gave an overview of the project, followed by the presentation of each participant and WP by its leader, as follows:
- WP2 presentation: Sara Ricci and Jan Hajny (BUT)
- WP3 presentation: Herve Debar (IMT)
- WP4 presentation: Alan Briones Delgado (URL)
- WP5 presentation: Sotiris Ioannidis (TUC)
- WP6 presentation: Vassiliki Chatzipetrou and Kristie Christodoulaki (ReadLab)
On the following day, the Head of Office & Programme Manager Maria João Proença from EfVET presented the WP7 related to Dissemination leaded by EfVET working closely with other task leaders namely EVTA and ReadLab, followed by the WP1 presentation by Mykolas Romeris University (MRU).
Other issues such as Administration of Erasmus+ project, Establishment of Project Governance bodies, and upcoming steps were also discussed. Next project meeting will be held probably online again in January.
