The theme 2025 originates from two pressing needs in the vocational education sector. While digital transformation brings significant opportunities for efficiency, flexibility, and innovation, it also presents new challenges, particularly regarding the well-being of learners, teachers, and managers within vocational schools, colleges, and universities of applied sciences. The growing integration of artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and remote work arrangements needs a re-evaluation of how well-being is embedded within work-based learning models and working conditions.
Facing these realities, what future do we envisage for VET with a well-being-centric approach? As we move towards 2035, many believe that well-being must be integrated as a fundamental pillar alongside technical skills and employability. The conference will explore innovative ways to reshape vocational education by prioritising well-being at three key levels: (i) Student Well-Being, (ii) teacher/manager well-being, and (iii) employer engagement for a well-being working culture.
The EfVET Annual Conference 2025 served as a critical platform for stakeholders—educators, students, vocational training managers, employers, and policymakers—to collaboratively design the future of vocational education with well-being as a guiding principle.
