Event for secondary vocational schools on quality assurance tools in schools
A National Platform for Promoting Excellence in VET
Each year, the Month of Quality in Slovakia highlights the importance of strengthening quality assurance in vocational education and training (VET). It brings together a wide range of events across the country, providing a platform for sharing experiences, presenting innovations, and strengthening cooperation between VET schools, employers and other partners.
The main goal of this initiative is to inspire schools to develop internal quality processes, introduce effective tools for evaluation and career guidance and foster professional dialogue on current challenges in the field of VET.
Panel discussion on new tools in Slovak VET
In May 2025, the State Vocational Education Institute (ŠIOV) organized several events addressing topics such as the use of graduate tracking system for quality improvement and the development of self-evaluation mechanisms in schools.
A key highlight was a VET conference organized under Slovakia’s EQAVET National Reference Point, featuring experts from Slovakia and the Czech Republic. They discussed what modern curricula should look like in practice, how to support students in making informed career choices and how to respond to new societal challenges to better align education with labour market needs. The conference also included a presentation on using administrative data to enhance the quality of education at VET schools. An important part of the event was the ceremonial announcement of the winners of the National Quality Award in VET, now in its fourth year. Awards were presented in the following categories: Career Guidance, Non-formal in Formal Education, and Outstanding Individual in Quality Assurance of VET.
Winners of the National Quality Award in VET 2025
Month of Quality 2025 will conclude with events targeting specific audiences. A film session on occupational health and safety will be held for VET students in cooperation with the EU-OSHA national contact point. Meanwhile, VET teachers will participate in a professional workshop on quality career guidance, organized under the Europass and EQAVET initiatives.
Month of Quality has confirmed its role as an important national tool for supporting the continuous development of quality in vocational education and training in Slovakia.
