EfVET 2025 Annual Conference kicks off in Fátima (Portugal)
[Fátima, Portugal – 22.10.2025]
The 2025 Annual EfVET Conference, titled “Well-Being in a Digitalised World: Crafting the Future of VET 2035” has just kicked off today in Fátima (Portugal). The five-day event will convene around 450 participants – policymakers, educators, researchers, industry representatives and young learners – to explore the evolving landscape of vocational education and training (VET) across Europe in the areas of well-being and digitalisation.
As the digital transformation continues to reshape vocational education and training, it brings unprecedented opportunities for efficiency, flexibility and innovation, as well as new challenges. The growing integration of artificial intelligence, automation and remote work arrangements calls for a systematic rethinking of how well-being is embedded within work-based learning models, teaching practices and the education ecosystem.
In the context of such trends, how to prevent burnout and isolation in the educational community? How to address the digital divide and ensure that everyone has equal access to digital tools? What strategies should be put in place to establish work-life balance for our teachers and trainers? Are VET educators sufficiently prepared not just to teach technical skills, but to become mentors of well-being for their students?
From 22 to 25 October 2025, the 34th EfVET Annual Conference will tackle these and further questions related to well-being and digitalisation, together with institutional speakers, EU officials, representatives of VET organisations and the whole VET community gathered in Fátima. Among them, European Commission’s Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu, who will open the Conference with a welcome message on 23 October.
The Conference will feature a diverse range of interactive activities that cater to the interests and needs of EfVET members and delegates. In the first two conference days, participants will take part in study visits to Portuguese VET schools to meet with local VET providers, staff and students. During the matchmaking events, they will exchange on their involvement in VET projects and find new partners for future initiatives. Two high-level policy panels will address the theme of the Conference from the perspective of EU policymakers, VET experts and practitioners. Workshops will offer an opportunity for knowledge-sharing and capacity-building, allowing participants to develop new training tools, programs and projects, while networking with new partners and members.
EfVET will communicate on the contents and events of the conference on its social media accounts throughout the week: for daily updates about the Conference, please follow EfVET LinkedIn account.
Journalists and media operators interested in covering the event are strongly encouraged to contact EfVET Advocacy Manager Emilio Dogliani.
About EfVET
The European Forum of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (EfVET) was founded in 1991 following the recognition that Vocational Education and Training Institutions did not have a voice in Europe. VET institutions were, at the time, facing challenges to gain recognition as a key educational pathway for many young people. The Academic/Vocational divide was considerable and vulnerable young people and even adults were significantly disengaged as a result. It was time to build a network of practitioner VET institutions to secure a voice across Europe in both the policy arena and also to share and establish good practises in the delivery of VET learning.
