In 2025, the European Commission announced two new flagship EU initiatives – the Union of Skills, setting out key objectives to support upskilling, reskilling and high-quality education and training for all; and the Clean Industrial Deal, a multi-annual plan to help traditional energy intensive industries and emerging clean technology sectors to decarbonise, including through promoting skills development. 

The event will bring together key stakeholders to discuss the role of apprenticeships and work-based learning in the context of these new initiatives. In particular, the event will be an opportunity to explore how apprenticeships can provide learners with the right skills to support the successful implementation of the Clean Industrial Deal. Moreover, it will also discuss how the Union of Skills can help develop the EU’s human capital, including through enhanced gender equality within apprenticeships. 

This event will enable you to explore how apprenticeships can contribute to the Union of Skills and the Clean Industrial Deal initiatives. Moreover, the importance of quality apprenticeships will be discussed as a key tool to develop skills in the workforce, with a focus on the green transition and clean technologies.
