LOST2 Final Conference “Bridging Gaps, Saving Lives: Strengthening Search and Rescue Across Europe”

LOST2 is an Erasmus+ funded project aimed to address the Missing People and Missing Children phenomena in the countries represented in the partnership (Belgium, Greece, Italy, Norway, Portugal and Spain), and to contribute for strengthening the European search and rescue system by designing a new job occupation – Expert in the Research of Missing People & Minors – under which a new training course was developed targeting professionals working in the field who seek for up-/reskilling opportunities.

Having started in the beginning of 2023, LOST2 project was concluded in May 30th 2025. As such, all partners gathered one last time in Brussels, for the final Transnational Partners’ Meeting, hosted by EfVET.

Transnational Partners’ Meeting – May 20th and 21st (morning)

This meeting was an opportunity to make an overview of the achievements reached so far and to identify the final steps to take towards the closure of the project. After all training materials were uploaded on LOST2 Platform (https://lost.team/training/), they were tested in the scope of the pilot sessions carried out by partners on their own countries. These pilot sessions allowed partners to understand which final adjustments are required to ensure all training materials are suitable to be completed by professionals such as teachers, police authorities, psychologists, search and rescue professionals and lawyers.

Moreover, the project’s website will be updated to include a promotional video of the project (aimed to present LOST2, its main results and their potential impact on end-users), and a list of organisations working in the Missing People and Missing Children phenomena, a resourceful information not only for professionals but also for parents and general public.

Some of the partners of LOST2 had their Multiplier Events scheduled for the last week of May, namely in Italy and Spain, where the project as well as all of its results will be presented to professionals that can benefit from them.

As such, until the end of the project, partners were focused on accomplishing all of the final activities of LOST2, including these events!

LOST2 Final Conference “Bridging Gaps, Saving Lives: Strengthening Search and Rescue Across Europe” – May 21st 2025

This onsite conference was held at the Umbria Region Office – Brussels and had a total of 36 participants from organisations internal and external to LOST2 project.

The conference had high-level speakers among LOST2 partnership (who shared information about the research conducted at the beginning of the project focused on the national contexts of the Missing People and Missing Children phenomena, about the project’s outcomes, and how they can be further used) and experts from Don Bosco International (Sara Sechi), Missing Children Europe (Sandrine Pépit) and Child Focus Belgium (Nel Broothaerts), who shared with participants their own expertise and know-how about the challenges faced by their organisations, and specific projects, approaches and methodologies they implement to face such challenges, among which are the DATA ANALYSIS project and the 116 000 Hotline number, available at European level.

This Conference also allowed all participants to network and discuss potential synergies among the different organisations! Information about LOST2 is available at its website (https://lost.team/), where all of the project’s results and outcomes are also available to be consulted and used!
