The overall aim of the LikeHome project is to foster the inclusion of newly arrived migrants and refugees to the host country education and training system, to the local economy and to the society in general. The general call objective addressed by LikeHome is “Fostering the inclusion of disadvantaged learners, including persons with a migrant background, while preventing and combating discriminatory practices”. Its strategic objective is to design and deliver a framework of best practices, based on 7 best practices that have been successfully used in frontrunners countries for the assessment and recognition of migrants prior learning, qualifications and competencies. A set of e-tools is also delivered to support this goal.

The overall aim of the LikeHome project is to foster the inclusion of newly arrived migrants and refugees to the host country education and training system, to the local economy and to the society in general. More specifically, LikeHome project’s strategic objective is to design and deliver a Framework of best practices, based on practices that have been successfully used in other cases, for the assessment and recognition of migrants prior learning, qualifications and competencies. A set of e-tools is also delivered to support this goal. The LikeHome project will study and adapt 7 selected best practices that will then form the LikeHome framework. Additionally, e-tools will be developed to support some of those best practices. The framework will also be supported by guidelines for its implementation in the target countries, while train the trainer seminars will also take place within the project, in order to ensure spreading and multiplication of the results. The LikeHome project will run for two years, which provide enough time for all the foreseen tasks, including the evaluation of the proposed approach. The work plan has been structured in such a way, as to achieve quick delivery of the first results and allow a gradual validation of the approach. WP overlapping has been planned whenever possible in order to avoid delays in case of a single task being delayed due to unforeseen reasons.

The project work plan can be schematically presented as three consecutive phases:

• Phase 1 deals with needs assessment and analysis of challenges and includes WP2 activities
• Phase 2 is the main implementation stage, where the LikeHome framework and tools are developed. It includes WP3 and WP4 activities.
• Phase 3 is the results up-taking phase, which is based on train-the-trainer seminars and pilot testing of the LikeHome strategy and tools in the participating countries. It includes WP5 activities.
