EfVET is pleased to announce that the registration for its 27th Annual Conference 2018 is officially opened. As previously announced, this year’s conference will be focusing on ‘Rethinking VET for Inclusive Excellence’, taking place from the 24 to the 27 of October in the Sheraton Hotel, Lake Como, Italy.
In the daily global challenges of educational and training activities, the importance to help students, mainly young kids, to develop a personal resilience is paramount. Entrepreneurial and digital skills, and creative thinking are only some of the main key elements pointed out in the recently EU documents, including the EU Skills Agenda in 2016. That’s why this years edition main focused is on: Industry and Innovation 4.0; HVET and Higher Apprenticeships, Inclusive VET and Digitalisation, following the major trends in VET education.
In order to enrich the debate EfVET 2018 will welcome keynote speakers such as, Shyamal Majumdar,Head of the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET); Dr. Cesare Onestini, Director of the European Training Foundation; Slawomir Tokarski, Director, Dir F “Innovation and Advanced manufacturing” – DG GROW; Loukas Zahilas, CEDEFOP, Head of the Department for VET Systems and Institutions (DSI); Tina Bertzeletou, Senior VET expert in CEDEFOP; Irene Psifidou, CEDEFOP Expert; Joachim James Calleja, Principal and CEO Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology Malta (MCAST); Yvonne van Hest, Program Director PEOPLE – Brainport Development; Santiago Garcia, EfVET President; Hans Lehmann, EfVET Vice-President (Policy), more to be confirmed.
The conference will continue to be highly interactive, providing considerable opportunity to network and find new partnerships. That’s why 2018 edition introduces some innovatives changes. First of all, two parallel strands of activities. Each strand will focus on specific targets, in order to multiply and boost the results of members’ participation:
- Practitioners in VET for Excellence: Teachers, tutors, experts in international mobility, networkers will have the opportunity to join workshops and activities aimed at sharing and empowering their teaching practices, increasing networks for staff and students mobility, promoting new sectorial networks. A bottom-up activity for Quality and Excellence in VET
- Leaders and Managers for XXI Century: Sharing strategic visions and trends in VET at national and European level to give your crucial contribution for VET innovation. Debates among leaders, managers, policy makers will focus on relevant topics including leadership models, digital transformation, internationalization, business-education partnership, sustainability. Rethinking VET starts at EfVET 2018.
Even more, EfVET 18 propose specific sessions “Thematic Teams” which allows EfVET members to meet within thematic clusters with the aim of sharing good practice, network, promoting innovation and opportunities among members, initialing common projects and develop new cooperation opportunities.
As usual, workshops sessions will be the chance to learn and exchange views on topics related to the main theme of the conference, six workshops will take place: 1. School-Enterprise Model 2. Strategies for Internationalization of VET colleges 3. HVET and Higher Apprenticeships 4. Industry and Innovation 4.0 “Future of Manufacturing in Europe” 5. Management and Leadership Skills 6. Inclusive VET, new challenges.
Besides, delegates will have the opportunity to learn from CEDEFOP sub-groups focus on technologies, mobility and migration. This session will coordinated by Tina Bertzeletou, Expert, Department for VET Systems & Institutions, CEDEFOP.
The mobility marketplace is back providing delegates with a forum section to meet prospective new partners. Even more, Conference offers to delegates the opportunity to disseminate European projects progress, results and products during the roundtables sessions.
EfVET Conference has become a milestone for VET professionals in Europe and beyond, giving the possibility to meet VET professionals, key policymakers and stakeholders.
