The Digital Craftmanship for Industry 5.0 – DigiCraft5.0 is a small-scale partnership in VET Erasmus+ funded project that is now moving towards its conclusion (September 2025 – August 2026).
Coordinated by Medaarch (IT), with support from EfVET, DigiCraft5.0 has a clear purpose: to empower VET schools, teachers, learners, artisans, and job seekers with the skills of the future through a new generation of training that merges digital fabrication, computational design, and sustainability principles.
The project bridges the gap between artisan know-how and the transformations introduced by Industry 5.0.
For 12 months, Medaarch and EfVET cooperated to develop, pilot and disseminate a new occupational profile and VET curriculum that can be implemented transversally across different areas – the Expert Designer in Digital Fabrication.
Developed for VET learners and graduates, artisans, professionals of SMEs and Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) and job seekers, the Expert Designer in Digital Fabrication is an innovative curriculum centred on digital fabrication, computational design, sustainable manufacturing and, more broadly, new skills for contemporary production.
With a workload of 150 hours, the Expert Designer in Digital Fabrication VET curriculum is set to be implemented on a hybrid format that includes online sessions, hands-on laboratories, and project-based and collaborative learning approaches.
This new VET curriculum was piloted between February and June 2026 with participation of 21 end-users (including VET learners and professionals) who attended online sessions and a one-week in-person hands-on laboratory (in Italy), where each participant was able to produce their own prototypes, developed in the first phase of the pilot. The results of this pilot were clear: the Expert Designer in Digital Fabrication curriculum fosters modernisation of VET courses while addressing the main challenges of the Creative and Manufacturing sectors, and changes in work and production (more details available on this article).
Now, Medaarch is finalising a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform which will offer free access to all training materials developed in the project, as well as open badges and micro-credentials, aligned with European standards such as the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and Quality Assurance procedures.
