The Lab of the Future

Lab of the Future is a European project co-funded by the European Union that promotes practical training in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR) and Cloud-LIMS for laboratory technicians and students across Europe. Its mission: to accelerate the digital and green transition of the laboratory sector through technical and sustainable training.

Activities

Project Objectives:

  • Develop a training programme and an immersive learning platform on digitalization and sustainability.
  • Improve key competencies in AI, VR, IoT, Blockchain, Cybersecurity and Cloud-LIMS.
  • Share best digitalization practices in the European context.
  • Facilitate the digital and green transition in laboratories.
  • Connect training with the real needs of the labour market.

Expected results

  • 5 focus groups in European countries and promotion of 70 best digitalization practices in laboratories.
  • 6 training modules on AI, VR, IoT, Blockchain, Cybersecurity and CloudLIMS in e-learning format.
  • Training sessions in 5 countries, involving 192 laboratory technicians and students across the EU.
  • European Qualifications Framework for digital laboratory technicians.
  • European Digitalization Working Group with 60 laboratories and training centres from 30 countries to drive the digital transition.
  • 32 Digitalization Strategies for laboratories and training centers developed by sector experts.
