Basque VET centres are integrating XR into vocational training. This initiative, coordinated by TKNIKA and supported by the Basque Government’s Department of Education, is aligned with the Basque VET 2030 Strategy and forms part of a system of 184 coordinated VET institutions.
To support this initiative, the Basque VET network selected VIROO as its XR infrastructure platform. VIROO enables organisations to create, manage and deploy immersive training experiences across multiple locations, devices and learning environments. Through a single platform, institutions can scale practical training, share content and deliver consistent learning experiences.
Across the Basque VET network, more than 25 full-scale immersive rooms have been deployed, allowing training content to be experienced at 1:1 scale in highly realistic environments.
However, immersive rooms are only one part of the approach. VIROO also enables the same training content to be accessed through VR headsets and standard classroom PCs, making immersive learning more accessible and scalable across centres.
The network has developed more than 15 XR training contents covering electrical systems, logistics, machining, occupational safety and care-related training. The content is developed by VET centres and third-party developers, enabling knowledge sharing and reuse across the network.

At EASO Politeknikoa, VIROO is used to support practical training across different vocational disciplines through immersive and collaborative learning experiences.
The Basque experience shows how shared XR infrastructure can help VET centres extend practical training across a coordinated network.
