IES Francisco Tomás y Valiente in Madrid hosted the Dualiza Meeting: Companies and VET Centres in the Energy and Energy Efficiency Sector on 23 April. The event was organised by CaixaBank Dualiza in collaboration with FPEmpresa and the educational centre itself. The initiative brought together companies and Vocational Education and Training centres with the aim of strengthening the connection between the training offer and the needs of the energy sector, as well as continuing to promote Dual VET as a lever for attracting talent.

Aimed at education and business professionals linked to renewable energies, energy efficiency and the professional families of Electricity, Energy and Water, the meeting took place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Madrid-based centre.

The day began with the institutional opening by Tomás Alonso, director of IES Francisco Tomás y Valiente. This was followed by a series of presentations focused on the challenges and opportunities of the energy sector, with the participation of Jesús Fernández de Vera, from IES Francisco Tomás y Valiente, who spoke about the VET framework in this field; Roberto Carlos Mediavilla Conde, from Iberdrola, who addressed the future of the energy sector; Julián Corredera Zapata, from Endesa, who shared the business perspective; and Pablo Álvarez Enciso, from Acciona, who delivered a presentation on sectoral innovation.

A space to identify challenges and generate solutions

After the initial block, the programme continued with a networking and coffee session, designed to encourage direct contact between the participating educational centres and companies. Afterwards, working groups and collaborative dynamics were held to analyse the main challenges in the interaction between companies and VET centres, propose viable solutions and establish indicators to measure their impact.

The event concluded with a sharing of conclusions and a closing session aimed at consolidating strategic alliances between the different participating stakeholders. In addition, attendees were able to take part voluntarily in a guided tour of the centre’s facilities and workshops to learn about some of its current training projects.

The meeting was attended by 18 companies and organisations linked to the energy and technology sector, including Iberdrola, Endesa, Acciona and Naturgy, among others. In total, more than 75 people registered for the session.

Through initiatives such as this, CaixaBank Dualiza and FPEmpresa continue to promote spaces for collaboration between companies and educational centres, supporting a Vocational Education and Training system that is connected to the reality of the labour market and prepared to respond to the challenges of the energy transition.
