Milan, 4-7 May 2025. EfVET VicePresident Stefano Tirati and Executive Director Paolo Nardi were among the participants to the Annual General Assembly of the Asian Development Bank, one of the leading organizations to foster #Transformation, #Innovation and #Development in several sectors, including #TVET, across Asia and the Pacific.
“Sharing Experience, Building Tomorrow” was the main theme: people from very diverse geographical and economic backgrounds gathered and offered vision, ideas, proposals through a rich set of panels, workshops and keynotes.
Key moment for TVET was the discussion on the investments needed in skills development to prepare for next-generation careers, modern workforce roles, emerging professions, and competitiveness. Pilvi Torsti from European Training Foundation advocated for the European VET system and in particular for the important experience carried out on the #CoVEs. Experiences from Asia, namely from Indonesia, India and Philippines showed how much similar are some of the challenges faced by the TVET systems, including:
- Access and recognition of VET;
- Investments in digital infrastructures;
- Wider flexibility and adaptability of the training pathways;
- Implementation of microcredentials to foster skills portability;
- Stronger international cooperation and partnerships.
Global partnerships have been promoted and discussed during several bilateral meetings EfVET held with representatives from the Ministries of Education from several Asian countries and with the ADB managers active in the Human and Social Development sector. Important convergence and common initiatives were explored with the colleagues Camille Khoury and Milica Njegovan from CiCan.
As mentioned by Fauzan Adziman, Director General at the Ministry of Education and Technology in Indonesia, #infusion is the right metaphor to represent our approach to share experience and inspire each other. EfVET pursues more and more this strategy where the encounter between VET centres from our community and other diverse experiences can open and facilitate a knowledge-development process and, above all, to stimulate a global citizenship awareness which is becoming every day more urgent for our society.
