Brussels. 15 May 2019. EfVET is pleased to announce that Stelios Mavromoustakos has been elected as Vice-President (Policy) of EfVET and Carina João Oliveira as Secretary to the Board by the Steering Committee.
EfVET President, Professor Joachim James Calleja on behalf of EfVET Members has congratulated both selected candidates “the trusts that members have shown in you is a testimony to your professional capacity to support the organisation grow in the years to come.” On a personal note, the EfVET President has dedicated these words to them:
“I am particularly happy to work closely with both of you and look forward to exchanging ideas and actions to make EfVET the best TVET organisation among training providers. I am sure that your commitment to add value to EfVET and its members.”
Dr Stylianos Mavromoustakos is a PhD holder in Chemistry since 1991. He worked for 10 years as a teacher of Chemistry and as the Head Teacher of Pascal English School. In 2003 he became the Director of the Training and Development Unit of Intercollege. Since then he has been involved both as a partner and coordinator in numerous European projects and programs. He has long experience in project management, program design and implementation. Since January 2008 Dr Mavromoustakos took on the position of Executive Director of Intercollege Nicosia and Intercollege Larnaca since 2014. From 2015 to 2019 he was also the Executive Director of the Maritime Academy Cyprus. His current role is the Development Director of the University of Nicosia. In 2006 he was elected Vice President of the European Forum of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (EfVET).
He has been invited to and has participated in numerous occasions in forums for Vocational Education and Training, Quality Assurance, Learning Outcomes etc. Dr Mavromoustakos, since September 2013 is one of the Cyprus European Credit systems for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET) National Experts and National Expert to the Minister of Education and Culture for the establishment of the National Qualifications Framework in Cyprus since January 2013. He was also a member of the ECVET User Group and Working Group, representing the European Association on VET Education from January 2013 – June 2016. He was appointed by DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the European Commission as a member of the expert group “Platform of European Associations of vocational education and training (VET) providers” for the period January 2015 to January 2017. Since May 2017, he is a member of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Working group representing the Vocational Education and Training providers.
Carina João Oliveira, from Portugal, is a Civil Engineer, with a degree from University of Coimbra Faculty of Sciences and Technology and a postgraduate degree in Management and Leadership from AESE Business School. She is the CEO of Insignare – Association of Education and Training. She is a national member of the Engineers Bar, having had a great part of her professional career at Infrastructures of Portugal (Portuguese public company responsible for managing both road and railroad networks), whose last job there was Manager of the Studies and Strategy Unit.INSIGNARE is an organization that owns two vocational schools, Ourém Vocational School – with workshops for technical areas from Mechatronics to Management – and Fátima Hospitality School, where Hospitality and Tourism courses are taught. Alongside vocational education, INSIGNARE also has offices for adult and business training.
In her role as Secretary to the board, Carina João Oliveira will coordinate and organize the whole process concerning meetings of EfVET’s ET and SC including preparation, performance and follow-up tasks. Ms João Oliveira will coordinate the internal communication within EfVET (ET/SC, staff in the Brussels office, national bodies and members).
