As mentioned by the European Commission in the launch of the Centres of Vocational Excellence Program, “Vocational excellence usually refers to high-quality training and education, but also to relevance to the world of work and to the attractiveness of the educational offer to learners and to employers. Vocational excellence may also imply an enlarged conceptualisation of skills provision – addressing innovation, regional and local development, lifelong learning, and smart specialisation.”
In the past years, excellence in VET has been a clear goal at systemic/policy and organizational/managerial levels, many examples have emerged, thanks to the CoVE program, the ETF ENE network and the “Internationalising Vocational Excellence” Program, the UNESCO-UNEVOC BILT Project and its practices. At National level, many countries have stimulated similar policies, granting the VET system a real breath of innovation (France, Spain).
The next Magazine issue aims at gathering those emerging experiences to offer an overview on the main elements which make VET excellent and its impact so far. Training practices, institutional initiatives, business-training partnerships, as well as coming opportunities are welcome.
