From Ibiza to Lifelong Learning Week: EfVET contributes to European dialogue and cooperation

EfVET was represented by Giorgos Giorgakis, Vice-President of the Lifelong Learning Platform (LLLP), EfVET Board Member and National Representative for Cyprus, at the LLLP Steering Committee and Secretariat meetings in Ibiza, Spain, on 29–30 October 2026.

The two-day meeting provided an opportunity to exchange experiences, review priorities and discuss practical steps to strengthen the Platform’s work. Topics included strategic communication, membership engagement, organisational structures, governance and management, alongside preparations for upcoming events.

The interaction between the Steering Committee and Secretariat brought together perspectives on both strategic direction and day-to-day implementation. Giorgos particularly valued the openness of the exchanges and colleagues’ shared commitment to translating discussions into practical next steps.

A further focus was the sustainability and use of project results. Discussions explored how LLLP and its member organisations can ensure that the knowledge, tools and approaches developed through European projects continue to benefit learners and practitioners beyond the funding period. Building communication, stakeholder engagement and the continued use of results into project planning and delivery is central to this work.

For EfVET, participation provides an opportunity to bring the experiences of vocational education and training providers into wider European dialogue on lifelong learning. It also strengthens connections across education sectors, supporting the exchange of practices and closer links between policy and implementation.

A further milestone is Lifelong Learning Week, taking place in Brussels from 30 November to 4 December 2026, with a focus on recognising and valuing learning and competences across different settings.

Giorgos will participate in the EU Lifelong Learning Stakeholders Forum on 30 November, bringing education stakeholders and policymakers together to discuss the design and implementation of the next Erasmus+ programme.

EfVET will contribute to the week through two workshops:

  • 2 December, 16:00–18:00 — Recognising competences gained through VET, digital learning and work-based learning. Taking place at Guimard, Rue Guimard 1, Brussels, the session will combine policy discussion with practical work on improving validation and recognition. Details and registration.
  • 3 December, 14:00–16:00 — Supporting teachers’ AI development through inclusion and wellbeing. Hosted at the EfVET office, Square de Meeûs 19, Brussels, the workshop will examine how professional learning can help teachers use AI while supporting their confidence, agency and wellbeing. Details and registration.

All workshop times are Brussels local time.

EfVET warmly invites members, partners and anyone based in or visiting Brussels during the week to participate. The programme offers opportunities to exchange practice, contribute to policy discussions and establish connections across Europe’s lifelong learning community.
