GenAISA Project: Shaping the Future of Generative AI Skills

A Generative AI Skills Academy

Generative AI is changing the way we work and interact with technology, opening up new opportunities across industries. The GenAISA project, running from 2024 to 2027, is here to help people prepare for these changes. By creating specialized programs for both Higher Education (HE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET), GenAISA provides learners with the tools they need to succeed in a world increasingly shaped by AI. More than just teaching technical skills, the project emphasizes adaptability and resilience, ensuring participants are ready for long-term success in their careers.

The heart of the GenAISA project is its mission to close the skills gap and empower individuals with practical knowledge. Its two educational pathways are designed to meet different needs. The HE curriculum prepares students for roles like Generative AI Engineer and Prompt Engineer, focusing on how to design and develop these advanced technologies. Meanwhile, the VET curriculum is all about helping learners use generative AI in everyday work settings, with a strong focus on safety, ethics, and efficiency. Adding to this is the Resilience Skills Course, which is delivered in a virtual world and helps participants develop the confidence and adaptability needed to face workplace challenges and build a lasting career.

The project’s reach extends beyond just teaching. GenAISA is creating resources like a Generative AI Competences Map and job profiles that clearly outline the skills needed for emerging roles. The curricula use engaging teaching methods, such as short, focused lessons and problem-solving activities, to make learning effective and enjoyable. To recognize students’ achievements, the project offers a Digital Skills Passport, which helps learners showcase their abilities and plan their career paths. The learning materials are accessible through an online platform (MOOC), while the resilience course uses virtual reality to bring lessons to life.

GenAISA isn’t just about training individuals; it’s also about building connections. By bringing together experts from education, industry, and technology, the project ensures its programs stay relevant and aligned with real-world needs. Through this collaborative approach, GenAISA will help build a future-ready workforce that’s equipped to embrace the potential of generative AI and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
