Seven students from Greece have embarked on a transformative three-month experience in Limassol, Cyprus, where they are diving into the fields of beauty and aesthetics, IT, and applied arts, by working with leading private companies in each sector. This opportunity not only provides them with hands-on experience but also fosters cross-cultural teamwork and knowledge sharing.
A Glimpse into Their Professional Pursuits
1. Beauty Sector: Luxurious Wellbeing
Among the seven students, two have chosen to immerse themselves in the dynamic world of beauty. They are working in the spa of a sophisticated 5-star resort hotel, known for its cutting-edge techniques and luxury treatments. They assist in different areas of the beauty center such as welcoming clients, booking appointments, recommending treatments, delivering a wide variety of massages and preparing the rooms before and after each client. Our students shared to ShipCon staff members their feedback: “This experience helped us to be able to give a more professional and complete service and to communicate with people from different origins.
To be in an Erasmus+ mobility is an amazing way to discover new places meanwhile you learn how to work in a completely different environment; additionally, we are growing at a personal level, becoming more outgoing people, we have never thought that would be able to make friends and hang out with people that we only know for barely a month! Definitely we recommend to every student to join an Erasmus + internship in a foreign country, the whole experience is awesome!”
2. IT Sector: Navigating Digital Frontiers
Four students dived into the fast-paced realm of IT. They have joined a big computer shop, specialized in software development and digital solutions. These students are engaged in various projects, from coding and software testing to working on innovative digital strategies. Their tasks involve collaborating on new software applications and troubleshooting existing systems, which provides them with a comprehensive understanding of IT processes and digital problem-solving.
They gave us their comments on this opportunity: “We are learning much more about computers components and programming applications in the real world than at school”. Another student expressed his gratitude towards Erasmus + internship program: “Erasmus+ offers us a chance to work on the field I’ve studied, which I would not have done otherwise since most jobs do not accept employees without experience and I gain a better understanding of job requirements”.
3. Applied Arts: Creating Excellence
The last student is gaining practical experience in architectural design and project development. She is involved in creative projects from the initial concept phase through to final execution, working on tasks such as drafting designs, creating visual presentations, and contributing to the development of architectural models. She wanted to share with us some of her thoughts about her mobility: “This experience has taught me a new field of work related to my studies.
Doing an Erasmus+ internship in a foreign country helps you face new personal and professional challenges. I think it should be necessary to have mobility like this at least once in your life”.
The Impact on Their Careers
This professional journey is more than just an internship; it is a significant step in the students’ career development. By working with leading companies in their respective fields, they are gaining insights into industry best practices and building a network of professional contacts.
This experience will not only enhance their resumes but also provide them with a competitive edge in their future careers. Furthermore, the cultural exchange aspect of their stay in Cyprus enriches their personal growth. Living and working in a new country exposes them to different work cultures and social norms, broadening their global perspective. They are learning to navigate new environments, adapt to different business practices, and collaborate with professionals from diverse backgrounds, as Limassol is the most intercultural city in Cyprus.
