Many EfVET Members will remember our close colleague and friend Geoff Scaplehorn, UK National Representative for EfVET.  It is sad to inform you all that after a protracted period of illness, Geoff passed away peacefully on 4th March 2019 surrounded by family

Geoff will be remembered for his commitment and dedication to EfVET over many years as the UK National Representative from 2000 – 2014 and for his work on the Steering Committee and as a co-opted member to the Executive Committee and responsible for Policy.  In additional, his representation as a vice-president of Lifelong learning Platform from 2009-2015 and EQF Advisory Group at the DG-EAC. Many will have met him at Conference along with his dear wife Carol. He often took the lead in drawing together the findings of workshops along with leading on many Policy Committees with the European Commission.  He had a special interest in promoting Language teaching, Training the Trainers and really valued the importance of speaking other languages beyond the native tongue.

Geoff was a very special person – selfless, bright, warm and gentle in personality.  Thoughtful in so many ways with a capacity to reflect, listen and bring people together.  He had many strengths coupled with a wonderful sense of humour and kindness to others.  In his later years he was delighted to spend more time with his family and look after his Grand-children. He will be sadly missed by us all.

His funeral will be held in his local village of Tydd St Giles on 14th March 2019.  EfVET will be represented by Pete Hodgson, with whom Geoff worked for some 20 years.  Should Members wish to contact the family you should address messages to Carol via scaplehorn@scaplehorn[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_images picture_size=”fixed” hover_type=”none” autoplay=”no” columns=”5″ column_spacing=”13″ scroll_items=”” show_nav=”yes” mouse_scroll=”no” border=”yes” lightbox=”yes” class=”” id=””][fusion_image link=”” linktarget=”_self” image=”https://www.efvet.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/319703_527147130640808_2136677018_n-300×225.jpg” alt=””/][fusion_image link=”” linktarget=”_self” image=”https://www.efvet.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/337321_528001907221997_999782245_o-300×225.jpg” alt=””/][fusion_image link=”” linktarget=”_self” image=”https://www.efvet.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/739968_526562437365944_1074668033_o-300×225.jpg” alt=””/][fusion_image link=”” linktarget=”_self” image=”https://www.efvet.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Geoff-Bilbao-2009-300×201.jpg” alt=””/][fusion_image link=”” linktarget=”_self” image=”https://www.efvet.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Geoff-Cyprus-2006-300×163.jpg” alt=””/][fusion_image link=”” linktarget=”_self” image=”https://www.efvet.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Geoff-Palma-2012-300×183.jpg” alt=””/][/fusion_images][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
