Kick-off meeting of SAAM – Supporting Alliance for African Mobility

The first meeting of SAAM – Supporting Alliance for African Mobility.

The kick-off meeting of SAAM – Supporting Alliance for African Mobility – took place on the 10th, 11th and 12th of February in Brussels, and it brought together Representatives of all the European partners (and Associated partners), and the Representatives of the Don Bosco Tech Africa. The meeting took place at the Headquarters of the Delegation of the Basque Country for the European Union, and it was an important moment to go in great detail over each one of the working packages, understand each organisations’ roles and responsibilities and discuss further details concerning the implementation of the project.

Deirdre Lennan, International Cooperation Coordinator of the General Directorate for Education, Youth and Culture, joined the meeting as well as Camila de Epalza, Coordinator of European policies in the Delegation of the Basque Country for the European Union. Both have highlighted the importance of this Pilot Project in terms of its contribution strengthening the cooperation between the EU and Africa, especially on such an important issue which is Education and Training.

SAAM will promote, throughout its lifetime, the mobility of over 300 young Africans in Europe, providing them with the opportunity of carrying internships in European companies. In addition to this, 70 European Trainers and 135 African Trainers will have the opportunity to visit Training Centers in Europe and Africa (Job Shadowing). It is expected that these mobilities will contribute to a greater understanding of each region ways of work and the Training systems in place and, through that, Europe and Africa will have learned from each other, strengthening ties and cooperation and improved their knowledge about internationalisation, transparency quality tools and different educational paths.
