How European Digital Credentials help learners share their achievements and make skills easier to verify, wherever their careers take them.
Skills travel with people, but proof of what they have learned does not always travel as easily. For VET learners moving between training, jobs and countries, paper certificates and PDFs can be difficult to verify, particularly for short courses and specialised skills.
European Digital Credentials for Learning (EDCs) change this. From diplomas to micro-credentials and certificates of participation, they are original digital documents, not just electronic copies. Issued in a common European format and secured with an eIDAS-compliant electronic seal, they allow anyone to verify their origin and integrity. Learners can keep them in Europass or another compatible wallet and share them with employers and institutions.
Making this possible should not require technical expertise. Velocert helps VET providers issue EDCs and Open Badges at scale, for programmes of all kinds. Participants at the EfVET Annual Conference 2026 received digital certificates through the platform.
The technology is ready, and so is the opportunity. VET providers can start issuing verifiable digital credentials today, making trusted proof of learning a standard part of every programme, wherever learners go.
