MICROIDEA Featured in OECD’s A Skills-first Labour Market Report

The MICROIDEA project has been recognised on the international stage, being featured as a best practice in a recent OECD publication – A Skills-first Labour Market Report.

This Report examines why skills-first approaches to hiring, talent management and skills development are becoming essential for improving labour market functioning and productivity, and what systemic changes are needed to adopt them at scale. MICROIDEA’s work on microcredentials offers a concrete illustration linked to a skills-first approach within the Tourism sector for vocational education and training (VET).

EfVET is grateful to have facilitated the recognition of MICROIDEA in this context. In February, EfVET showcased the project at the MCMC event, organised by the Knowledge Innovation Centre (KIC) in Amsterdam, showcasing the project to an international audience of policymakers and practitioners, while bringing the project to OECD’s attention.

This encounter has helped to create collaboration between EfVET and the OECD. For instance, EfVET hosted one podcast episode with an OECD expert on policy and skills, looking forward to welcoming them again at the EfVET Conference 2026.

For EfVET, connecting strong European projects such as MICROIDEA with platforms, partners, and policy conversations produces the kind of impact that its network and the TVET sector needs. Furthermore, EfVET is proud and congratulates the MICROIDEA consortium partners, of which it is part, on this well-deserved recognition.
