My name is Goizane, and I’m from the Basque Country. I arrived in Brussels in January, thanks to the collaboration between the Global Training Programme of the Basque Government and EfVET. With a background in tourism, I have previously worked on various tourism, cultural, and educational projects. Additionally, I participated in a volunteering programme in Le Mans (France) with the European Solidarity Corps, and it was during this volunteering experience that I decided to apply for this traineeship.
The past six months have flown by, and I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to learn about the various areas EfVET is involved in. While I primarily supported the membership area, I also had the chance to attend European project meetings, participate in European conferences both in Brussels and online, prepare reports, collect data for projects, and assist in events. One of the highlights was attending a conference in the European Parliament—it was so exciting! However, I especially want to highlight the passion I received from the EfVET team in order to give the best quality in what they were doing.
Brussels itself has a fascinating ecosystem as the capital of the European Union, bustling with international people connecting with one another. I live with seven other international young professionals, which has been a wonderful experience. I also connected with fellow Basque citizens through the Basque House activities, and we even organised a “Basque Youth Day” in Brussels. Moreover, I took solo jazz dance classes, which I really enjoyed!
As my traineeship comes to an end, I look forward to new adventures. I am confident that the skills and knowledge I gained during this time will be invaluable wherever I go. Thank you, EfVET, for this incredible opportunity!
