PAOLO NARDI is EfVET new Executive Director

On Friday last week the President of EfVET Professor Joachim James Calleja appointed Paolo Nardi as the new Executive Director of EfVET. He will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Organisation which is based in Brussels. In appointing him the President of EfVET Professor Calleja said that article 16 of the new constitution approved by the General Assembly in 2020 permits EfVET to appoint an Executive Director with the scope of taking the organisation a further step towards being the strongest advocacy body for European VET providers. In a decision taken by the Executive Management Team and following an open call Paolo Nardi was appointed for the next three years. This is the first time that EfVET has an Executive Director. Earlier this year Valentina Chanina was also appointed Secretary General of the organisation. These appointments have been made necessary with the growth of the Organisation over these last five years. EfVET is involved in more than 25 European funded projects and has several activities all year round for its members including an Annual International Conference which this year will be held in Rhodes during the last week of October on Future Skills for Green Transitions; an agenda for VET.

Paolo Nardi has been International Affairs and Research Officer at La Cometa VET Centre (Italy) since 2015, also contributing, after 2020 to the management of the GIVE CoVE project. Coordinator of the UNESCO-UNEVOC Centre for Italy since 2018, he is currently active as Board Member of VETNET (association of researchers in VET) and Steering Committee member of Karanga – Global Alliance for Social Emotional Learning. Member of the Editorial Board at Nuova Professionalità (VET journal) and the Journal Economics and Policy of Energy and the Environment. After graduating Master in Public Policy at Brunel University London, he achieved a PhD in International Law and Economics from the Bocconi University, Milan. Active in practice-led research, Dr Nardi interests mainly focus on education and training, namely innovations in pedagogy and life skills; his studies also include non-profit organisations, social innovation and community development.

In welcoming his new appointment Dr Nardi said: “Since my first meeting with EfVET, I was impressed by its authentic family spirit of its management and members. In this family, its members, our people are together to grow personally and professionally, to train and to learn, to support each other. Above all, we are together to make a difference in this disruptive era, and to guide next generations to cope with their future challenges. As EfVET Executive Director, it will be an honour for me to contribute with my passion and expertise to help each member to thrive and to become protagonist of the future. “Work hard. Dream big” our President has said: I can’t wait for this big adventure to begin!”
