Supporting Young People in the Digital Transition

In September, EfVET, in collaboration with SEPR and the Métropole de Lyon, produced a report in collaboration with WorldSkills. This initiative was part of the Youth Forum 2024 held alongside WorldSkills, an event which brought together 1,400 exceptional young competitors, offering them a unique opportunity to showcase their talents in front of the entire world. The forum was an opportunity to engage with young people, discuss about their future, understanding their challenges.

Sciences Po Lyon provided value insights of the Forum by creating two documents done in collaboration with Métropole Grand Lyon, WorldSkills France, EfVET and SEPR. Both papers aim to raise awareness of young people’s voice.

The first document focuses on advocacy for youth, made by youth, with the objective of promoting a sustainable, inclusive, and responsible integration of youth into the workforce. The goal is amplifying the voice of young people facing challenges in the workplace. This is achieved by sharing challenges and offering solutions to public authorities, schools and companies.

The second document serves as a guide to carrying the voice of the youth: “How can we design a participation system adapted to international and local scales?”. The main goal is consolidating participation experiences by doing a reflection based on two field examples, one of which EfVET participated, the involvement in the “International Youth Forum”.

Key takeaways and goals from the collaboration, supporting young people in the digital and social transition:

  • Reducing the digital divide by promoting better access to technology also in the less developed countries.
  • Adapting training to the challenges of digitalization.
  • Wellbeing during training and at workplace is key for GenZ and it should be carefully
  • Promoting the use of AI in a sustainable, inclusive, and respectful manner for young professionals.
