On the 18-20 February took place the first kick-off meeting of the SENSE project, a strategic partnership funded by the ERASMUS+ programme.
The project partners GALE, CESIE, FCSVM, DEFOIN, EUROTraining, ROC of Amsterdam West and EfVET met at CESIE (Palermo, Italy) to start the project that will last two years to focus on teaching diversity skills to VET students in the social domain, and more specifically how to deal with one of the more controversial forms of diversity: sexual diversity.
The main aims focus is social inclusion of both fellow students and future customers. This is especially important in an ageing Europe, where Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) community may be confronted with social sector professional which have not been training to be sensitive to their needs.
During the kick-off meeting, the partners spent one-day discussing inner issues of the project management and outputs. And another two days in the teacher training. The main aim of the training was on how to integrate sexual diversity in the training curriculum. The training activities trained the partners and participants in specific issues around sexual diversity sensitivity.
The project partners think that Europe does not only need efficient teachers training but also efficient safe schools environments for LGBTI students.
