The D-Care project was presented during the EfVET roundtables in Berlin which gathered over 60 participants from 12 European countries.
In Europe an increase in diseases linked to ageing, such as dementia, has been registered throughout the last 50 years, and it is estimated that the number will increase after Covid-19 pandemic.
During the roundtables, EfVET and p-consulting partners presented the training courses of D-Care. By the end of project, we believe the students will be able to understand how the disease affect a person and how the person sees the world, said p-consulting partner representative Panagiotis Anastassopoulos. The training courses contain the specific guidelines for the development of the study material in “Design, development and pilot of the E-learning Course for caregivers”. The modules are the basis for understanding the person with dementia, the preconditions and how you as a professional or non – professional caregiver can co-assist in making their everyday life meaningful and increase the person quality of life. All the courses, modules and topics are the same, but the content is different to some of the topics. All courses of the modules will be translated into partners languages.
All caregivers need to have some knowledge of the different types of dementia and deal with their own expectations, knowing how they might signpost family and friends to get a diagnosis and then assisting the person to live well with the diagnosis.
Participants benefitted from sharing good practice and examples. Also, EfVET and p-consulting partner had the opportunity to disseminate the project by handing out more than 20 brochures and printing version of the newsletters.
