Is a cooperative initiative of the Estonian state, educational institutions, companies, and professional associations. Its goal is to raise the quality of education in engineering, ensure the future of engineers, and increase the popularity of the field.
To link education and the labour market more closely and to direct young people’s study choices, the Estonian state has launched an engineering academy co-financed by the European Union, the aim of which is to increase the correspondence of education to the needs of the labour market in the fields of engineering, production and construction.
As a result of the Academy of Engineering: the quality of engineering education increases in both vocational and higher education so that graduates better meet the expectations of the labour market; the dropout rate of engineering education decreases; the proportion of women in engineering professions increases; general education curricula are supplemented with MATIK studies; engineering profession and education have become more popular.
Nine vocational schools participate in the Engineering Academy: Ida-Virumaa Vocational Education Center, Tallinn Lasnamäe Mechanical School, Tallinn Polytechnic, Tallinn Industrial Education Center, Tartu Applied College, Tallinn Construction School, Pärnumaa Vocational Education Centre, Tartu Art School, and Kuressaare Vocational School.
2023-2029, the Estonian state will direct approximately 39.4 million euros to the program. The Estonian Education and Youth Board coordinate the implementation of the activities.
