TTT Masterclass on the Dual Transition in the Hospitality and Tourism Sector

On November 28th, 2024, the Tourism Thematic Team, hosted a masterclass titled “Insights & Good Practices from Africa and Asia on the Dual Transition in the Hospitality & Tourism Sector.” The event explored how green and digital transitions are reshaping the industry, with experts from Africa and Asia sharing practical insights and solutions.

Kenny Muscat, representing UNESCO-UNEVOC, opened the session by underlining the significance of this masterclass in addressing the global challenges faced by the hospitality and tourism sectors.

In a rapidly evolving world marked by digital transformation, climate change, and economic uncertainties, this masterclass aims to equip TVET institutions with the tools and knowledge to lead the dual transition. By fostering international cooperation, we can develop future-proof skills and ensure sustainable growth in these industries.

He highlighted that bridging the gap between education and industry is essential to meet the demands of a green and digital economy.

Linda Kasina, Principal of Kibondeni College, emphasized the role of TVET in creating sustainable pathways for students in the hospitality industry. She showcased how the dual training system at Kibondeni combines academic learning with hands-on industry experience.

Benjamin Cassim, Lecturer in Tourism and Hospitality at Temasek Polytechnic, discussed how digital transformation is reshaping the tourism sector in Asia.
