VET-POWER Capacity Building project with african partners

From January 2025, a new Capacity Building project called VET-POWER kick started its activities. This project builds upon four years of successful cooperation within the unprecedented SAAM (Supporting Alliance for African Mobility) Pilot mobility scheme project.

It aims to further strengthen the achievements of SAAM, involving diverse spectrum of stakeholders active in the field of VET in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Spain, Italy and France. The consortium is composed of 3 African partners from Don Bosco training centres: École Professionnelle Salésienne de Cotonou (Benin), Centre de Formation de Bobo-Dioulasso (Burkina Faso), Institut Technique d’Ebolowa (Cameroon), as well as 3 European partners: Scuola Centrale Formazione (Italy), Mundus (Spain) and SEPR (France).

With a specific focus on enhancing VET provision in the electricity sector and fostering Work-Based Learning and internationalisation, the project aligns with the broader objective of the EU-Africa Global Gateway Investment Package, seeking to support African countries in providing modern, quality education and training that corresponds to the opportunities available at the labour market, facilitating youth mobility, and fostering innovative solutions to enhance teachers’ competences and skills.

To achieve these objectives, various activities will be carried out across both continents, including:

  • Conducting a state of play of the labour market and the VET provision through study visits, focus groups and interviews with companies.
  • Adapting and integrating digital and green transitions for both initial and continuing VET in electricity training courses.
  • Enhancing the skills of teachers, managers, and in-company tutors through job-shadowing and training, focusing on pedagogy, teaching methods, and Work-Based Learning.
  • Promoting VET internationalization through mobility, project design, and management initiatives.

To be implemented in April: first transnational meeting in Ebolowa (Cameroon) and study visit in Benin and Cameroon to identify the companies and VET centers needs in electricity.
