World Skills was incredible event took place in Lyon, France from 9 September to 15th of September 2024. Building on the energy of the 47th WorldSkills Competition, the WorldSkills Conference inspires excellence, innovation, and connection under the theme “Moving TVET to the top of the global agenda”
The World Skills competition brings together 1400 competitions from 65 countries bring together in Lyon, France. It was an incredible celebration of skills, where every country & region had their paths of excellence throughout the world.
Thousands of young people from around the world with extraordinary talents come together to compete for excellence in various fields: ranging from hairdressing, cyber security, craft, garden 3D design, construction, logistics, hospitality, and much more.Over these days, the EfVET team, members are learning, connecting & sharing ideas on how Centres of Vocational Excellence are driving this transformation. Together with young we are driving the global skills and ect.
Event Highlights:
🔹Where nearly 700 people gathered in Lyon for the 3rd Forum COVEs , to exchange best practices, learn from each others lessons learned and to make connection between the varios COVES and national initiatives like the MOSAIC, GIVE and Pove Water follow up, and may others. EfVET Team participated in various workshops and panel discussion and shared good practices with participants.
🔹PISA-VET towards international TVET excellence. The OECD is developing the first international large-scale assessment of Vocational Education and Training (VET) programmes. In this session, the OECD’s Director for Education and Skills will present the framework for PISA-VET, outline the next steps in the initiative and look forward to the first results of the programme and the benefits that will be possible, including enhanced comparative policy insights on how to improve the relevance, quality, equity and effectiveness of initial VET programmes and the promotion of VET and the power of skills to enlighten and inspire young students of the future.
🔹The Thematic villages of the VET Forum have contributed to the promotion of professions by welcoming some of the 20.000 school children present every day on the Eurexpo site.
🔹Moderation of the International Youth Forum with Claire Challande-Osuna (SEPR) and Paolo Nardi (Executive Director) gathering 17 young leaders & 12 decision makers to address youth main challenges & advocacy at international level.
🔹Valentina Chanina (Secretary General) had the opportunity to facilitate a panel discussion  Europe-Africa cooperation and share tips on designing and bringing all the knowledge, gives different voices the opportunity to connect and discuss global issues such as skills development, skills demand, Vocational Education and Training (VET), and excellence.It was very impressive how young participants from all over the world give the best skills in their profession- an amazing experience that excellently promote TVET.
It was truly an inspiring week full of innovation, competition, and learning.
