How does digital evolution affect our lives? What do we still need to learn, and what are the basic skills in all 5 areas of digital competence that we cannot fail to have in the contemporary world?
Confidence in using new tools has a marked generational difference. Younger generations are more confident in using technology, but they still need to acquire targeted skills and continue to build their portfolio of up-to-date knowledge.
How to access digital services, develop competencies and skills frameworks, guarantee universal access with a bottom-up approach, remain at the center of the ongoing discussion. How to get a “digital skills passport” to land a better job, is the central question for the younger generations.
Particularly at the institutional level, communicating properly is the conditio sine qua non to avoid creating a misperception within civil society and the non-experts. Moreover, using AI without basic skills could create more problems than solutions and potentially lead to negative reactions, backlash, and misinformation.
The expert panel discussion, moderated by David Mekkaou, featured key experts Andreea Dima (Director of Maks Competence Center), Elisa Gambardella (President of Lifelong Learning Platform), Victor Negrescu (Vice President of the European Parliament, MEP Romania), Nathalie Pensaert (HR Director, Council of the European Union) and Riina Vuorikari (DigComp Expert).

Each participant was given a question or a topic to discuss about.
The event continued with a breakout session led by Selin Tagmat, Head of Communications at All Digital. This interactive session focused on the organization’s five key areas: Access to Digital, Digital Upskilling, AI & Emerging Tech, Digital Well-being, and Digital Skills Policy.
Peter Palvolgyi, Chief Operating Officer of All Digital, concluded the event by summarizing key insights from the discussions and providing an overview of All Digital’s mission and history. Palvolgyi also introduced the All-Digital Weeks, a campaign running from March 17th to April 4th, aimed at raising awareness of the digital skills needed, under the theme “Engaging in digital skills and ensuring that no one is left behind”.
