The 28th EfVET Annual Conference on ‘Robots, Human Capital and Digital Learning. Managing Transition and Inclusion’, will start tomorrow until the 26th of October in Ponta Delgada, Azores, (Portugal). This year’s edition will welcome more than 300 delegates from all Europe and beyond bringing together VET providers, teachers, trainers, shareholders, experts, policymakers and industry representatives.
Prof Joachim James Calleja President of EfVET set up the theme of the conference by imagining a future “where robots could be entrusted with managing EfVET annual conference, the organisers and members would simply sit back, relax and enjoy the event”.
By associating robots with human beings and vocational education, the purpose of this conference is to reflect on how VET colleges and schools can manage the transition from school-based to reality-based learning. In this context, the borders of our VET institutions will be challenged by the advancements that are taking place in workplaces.
The President of the Regional Government of Azores, Portugal, Vasco Alves Cordeiro will do the official opening of the event, representing the local authorities and welcoming EfVET delegates to Portugal Atlantic islands.
The 2019 Conference will count among its speakers with EfVET representatives such as Prof Joachim James Calleja (EfVET President), institutional policymakers such as Dana Carmen-Bachmann, European Commission, Head of Unit (VET, Apprenticeships & Adult Learning – DG EMPL), Tina Bertzeletou (CEDEFOP, Expert, Department for VET Systems & Institutions), Shyamal Majumdar (Head of the UNESCO-UNEVOC); other delegates from the industry sector such as Arnaldo Abruzzini, CEO of EuroChambers, Lars Mathiesen, Head of SDE Knowledge Center – Automation & Robotics at Syddansk Erhvervsskole in Odense, Denmark, among others. The event will be moderated by Martin Watson, senior consultant with Prospex and Head of the EU Office.
EfVET Annual Conference will continue to be highly interactive, providing a considerable opportunity to network and find new partnerships. It will start with the follow-up of the work of EfVET Thematic Teams providing delegates with the opportunity to understand the work these teams are doing in different areas and to share good practices, network and promoting innovation and opportunities and explore the possibility for new cooperation and partnerships.
All in all, the EfVET Conference has become a milestone for every VET professionals in European and beyond.
